Ranked one of the best advertising campaigns in history, Miller Beer solidified it’s place in history with it’s, “Great Taste, Less Filling!” slogan. The commercials that accompanied this slogan were entertaining, and at the same time appealing to men and women who wanted to enjoy beer while watching their wasteline.

Many sports figures appeared in the Miller commercials, including boxer Joe Frazier, baseball great Boog Powell, and the great baseball personality, Bob Uecker, who was shown in a humorous Miller commercial in which he was kicked out of his front row seat at a game, and wound up in the cheap seats.

One of the best Miller Lite commercials involved George Steinbrenner and Billy Martin. In the seventies the feud between the two was well publicized, and the feud carried over in a humorous fashion in the commercial in which Martin declared that Miller Lite tasted great, while Steinbrenner argued that it was less filling.

The “Life Is Good” series included the likes of Larry Bird. This included one commercial in which attractive women were walking past men on the beach. The guys enjoying the view could stop and rewind the scene over and over again.

Miller Lite created the standard for entertaining beer commercials. A standard that is held up to this day.
